History and interesting facts about Park township

    This township was originally a part of Flowerfield township and was established as a unique township in 1838. A mill pond and races were once built on the Portage River to supply power for a woolen factory built in 1851. A saw mill and grist mill were built in 1853. Frank Dentler of Parkville invented the Dentler Bagger, which was an automated piece of farm equipment for weighing and measuring the output of a threshing machine. *
